TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK Tortuguero National Park is the main nature tourist destination in Costa Rica. It is located in the Northern Caribbean and is an extensive wetland of primary forests bathed by a wild sea, which reminds us of the beginning of the world. The Park has 405 species of birds, half of those found in all of Costa Rica. Its beaches are the nesting place of four species of sea turtles, hence its name: Tortuguero. The Park area has three types of forest: Tropical Humid, Premontane Humid, Tropical Montane. Tortuguero National Park is home to 52 species of freshwater fish and 160 species of mammals. TURTLES Tortuguero beach is the most important nesting site for the green turtle. Thanks to the efforts of the Tortuguero Community, the hotel sector and the management of the National Park, the number of specimens has grown considerably in recent years and is about to leave the list of endangered species. Other species of turtles, such as the Leatherback and the Hawksbill, also spawn on this beach, although in smaller quantities. CARIBBEAN SEA The Caribbean Sea is part of our gardens, a 5 km long beach, dark sands and strong waves.
Tortuguero is a space where animals that arrive in southern California in the United States are cared for in emergency cases and it is also the space where some of the turtle species are cared for in cases where they have been damaged by boats or some misfortunes caused by man or nature.

It is necessary to have people who care about having the species in the best conditions, but it is also important to have specialists to care for all the facilities. It is worth clarifying that the donations are managed by a group of people who dedicate their attention to these animals and this year the table has been made up of the following members.
We are pleased to inform you about the formation of the new Board of the Tortuguero Chamber of Commerce and Tourism for the 2025–2027 term, in which they have representation.
